WNAM MONITORING: A meeting was held in Tashkent with representatives of the international consulting company Reformatics to discuss the future development of Uzbekistan’s tourism industry.
The event was attended by Bahodir Rakhmatov, Director of the Agency for Strategic Reforms, Aziz Abdukhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Umid Shadiyev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, as well as Nika Gilauri, Managing Partner of Reformatics, and other company representatives.
During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on investment attraction, infrastructure improvement, developing new tourist destinations, and integrating modern digital solutions in the tourism sector.
Experts from Reformatics noted that due to its strategic geographic location, providing access to 21 countries within a 2,000 km radius, Uzbekistan has the potential to become one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.
At the meeting, a tripartite agreement was signed, under which Reformatics will provide expert support in developing Uzbekistan’s Tourism Development Strategy 2040.
The strategy’s key goals include increasing the number of foreign tourists to 20 million and domestic tourism to 30 million. Additionally, the plan aims to raise tourism’s share of GDP to 7%. To achieve these targets, comprehensive measures will be implemented, including tourism flow analysis, launching a global marketing strategy with audience segmentation, and developing new promising travel routes and destinations.
Special attention will be given to investment packages for infrastructure development in key tourist zones. An important step will be opening a Reformatics office in Tashkent, where company experts will work closely with tourism industry representatives, entrepreneurs, tour operators, investors, and government agencies.
