WNAM REPORT: The governments of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) engaged in a discussion to explore the potential for strategic cooperation in the field of aviation.
The discussion took place when Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi received a visit from UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri at the headquarters of the Transportation Ministry in Jakarta on Tuesday (February 25).
“This meeting touched upon the potential for strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE, with a special focus on the aviation sector,” Purwagandhi noted in his ministry’s statement received here on Wednesday.
The minister said he and the ambassador exchanged views on viable ways to further enhance their countries’ bilateral ties.
“Our discussion was focused on opportunities to cooperate in aircraft maintenance and the development of the aviation industry of Indonesia,” he revealed.
Purwagandhi spoke highly of such cooperation, considering Indonesia’s strategic position in international trade routes and the growing need for aviation services in the Asia-Pacific region.
However, the official expressed hope that Indonesia and the UAE would expand their collaboration beyond the aviation sector, covering other fields of transportation.
“We hope that this collaboration will extend to land and sea transportation, as well as logistics. By cooperating in a wider spectrum, we will be able to create an integrated transportation system and stimulate economic growth in the two countries,” he noted.
He also expressed hope that the discussion would lead Indonesia and the UAE to work hand in hand to build an innovative, secure, safe, and sustainable transportation sector.
Transportation Ministry’s Secretary-General Novie Riyanto, Acting Director General of Air Transportation Lukman Laisa, Managing Director and Group CEO of Sanad Group Mansoor Janahi, and Country Manager of Emirates Airlines Indonesia Mohammed Al Attar, among others, also attended the meeting.
