Jakarta (WNAM MONITORING):  Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy has launched a Fashion Incubation program in the Greater Jakarta area to help local designers improve product quality and expand into national and international markets.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said the initiative marks the government’s first step toward empowering local fashion brands to gain global recognition.

“The fashion sub-sector contributes significantly to exports and job creation within the creative economy,” Harsya said in a statement on Sunday.

“This program aims to strengthen the creative economy’s role in driving national growth from the local level,” he added.

The program has entered its bootcamp phase in Bogor, West Java, running from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. It follows a registration and selection process that drew 61 applicants since Oct. 17.

Ten selected entrepreneurs from Jakarta, West Java and Banten are attending the four-day training, which covers clothing, bag, and footwear businesses.

The bootcamp includes sessions on product design, prototype presentation, finance, branding, and digitalization.
