RAWALPINDI ( WNAM REPORT) Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal while speaking at a reception organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), has emphasized the critical role of the private sector in steering Pakistan’s economic trajectory.
He assured the government is committed to creating a competitive export environment, involving business chambers as expert stakeholders. Also pledged to break away from past mistakes and focus on peaceful and stable development for Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal noted that Pakistan is embarking on a new journey of rapid development, but faces a challenging global economic landscape. Unlike 30 years ago, Pakistan now needs to attract $10 billion annually. Despite increased exports, the country must adapt to changing global trade patterns.
Earlier, the Federal Minister was warmly welcomed by President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, Usman Shaukat, along with Group Leader Sohail Altaf. Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, Vice President Fahad Barlas, former Presidents, Anjuman Tajran Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Sheikh Hafeez, Asif Idrees, and other esteemed members of the Chamber were also present.
During the visit, President Usman Shaukat briefed the Federal Minister on the Chamber’s ongoing initiatives, particularly the Revive Pakistan project, which aims to restore national confidence, revitalize the economy, and chart a path toward sustainable growth. Key demands highlighted included the promotion of regional trade, the establishment of an Expo Center in Rawalpindi, reduction in business costs, and the development of industrial and economic zones to drive economic progress.
He assured that the government is committed to fostering a competitive export environment by involving business chambers as expert stakeholders. Additionally, he pledged to engage with the Ministry of Commerce regarding the establishment of the Expo Center in Rawalpindi and reiterated ongoing efforts to reduce energy costs.
Minister Iqbal underscored the importance of Uraan Pakistan, a new economic initiative aimed at ensuring sustained economic stability. He emphasized that Pakistan’s private sector is the key driver of progress and stressed the need for increased exports, streamlined tax collection, and energy cost reductions.
