Tashkent hosts International Education Fair

WNAM REPORT: The International Education Fair “Russian Education. Tashkent 2025” concluded in Tashkent on September 19-20 at the branch campus of MGIMO University.

At the official opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were delivered by Aleksei Erkhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Irina Staroselskaya, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo to the Republic of Uzbekistan, her deputy Pavel Shevtsov, and Abdujabar Abduvakhitov, Director of the Tashkent branch of MGIMO.Ambassador Erkhov emphasized that the fair has been held for three consecutive years, each time bringing together thousands of schoolchildren, students, and educators. Last year, it attracted around four thousand visitors, and today, interest in Russian education continues to grow. According to him, the Russian Federation annually allocates quotas for citizens of Uzbekistan, and starting in 2024, the number has been increased to 810 places. The most popular fields of study remain medicine, economics, and law, while engineering, IT, and humanities disciplines are also in high demand . This year, 40 educational institutions from 22 regions of Russia participated in the fair, including national research and federal universities.The event was organized by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation. Its partners included the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent branch of MGIMO, and the non-governmental organization Rosobrazovanie.
