WNAM REPORT: Tashkent hosted an international scientific and practical conference titled “Constitutional and Legal Issues of Modernizing the System of Representative Authorities: International Experience for Uzbekistan”.
The event, organized by the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, focused on current issues related to improving the functioning of the parliament and local Councils within the framework of the renewed Constitution and relevant international experiences.
“April 30 marks the second anniversary of adopting our country’s new Constitution”, said Khushvakht Khaitov, Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. “Certain achievements have been made based on the new constitutional norms, and the work of the parliament and representative bodies has reached a new level”.
Representatives and parliamentarians from nearly ten countries shared their experiences and familiarized themselves with Uzbekistan’s progress. International experts highly praise our country’s reforms, particularly the number of human rights provisions in the Constitution, which has more than tripled, and the state’s social obligations have significantly increased.
