ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): President of Islamabad Tyres Association (ITA), Riaz Khan, has urged the federal government to significantly reduce import duty on tyres in the upcoming budget and formulate policies to encourage local manufacturing.
He said that traders associated with the tyre sector are currently facing severe difficulties due to increasing taxes, expensive imports, and rising business costs. Because of import duties and other taxes, tyre prices are continuously increasing, which is directly affecting the transport sector as well as ordinary consumers.
Riaz Khan stated that if the government reduces duties on tyres and simplifies the import process, it will not only improve business activities but will also ensure the availability of quality tyres in the market at affordable prices.
He added that the business community plays an important role in the economy; therefore, providing facilities and relief to traders in the budget is the need of the hour.
