The ceasefire agreement would not be worth the paper it is written on if India didn’t include the issue of Indus Basin treaty in it. It is disheartening to note that Modi is side tracking discussion on the implementation of Indus basin treaty in toto, hook line and sinker in the negotiations between Pakistan and India following the ceasefire which wax eloquent of his political chicanery.
The stoppage of water flow to Pakistan as per Indus basin treaty is not less than dropping atom bomb on Pakistan which had now better try to jog the UN and the World bank into action through vigorous diplomatic offensive as early as possible. Likewise, inquiry at the UN level into India’s allegation that Pakistan was involved in Pehalgam terrorism is also sine qua non to separate the wheat from the chafe and nail the canard of India.
Needless to say some of the Indian political analysts take pride by boosting that they are adherents of political philosophy of Chanakya who was political advisor of kings of Maurya dynasty of Hindus in this part of the world in the distant past. They consider their political acumen superior than rest of the nations of the world.
