WNAM MONITORING: Rovshan Rustamov, chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani to discuss the and establishing new logistics routes through Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, as reported by the Turkmenistan’s official media on Wednesday.
The talks focused on the strategically significant Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan regional transport corridor. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of collaboration and explored opportunities for expanding freight volumes.
The route holds particular importance for Turkmenistan, as it enhances the country’s transit potential and solidifies its role as a key logistics hub in the region. Azerbaijan Railways also considers the corridor a strategic initiative to strengthen connectivity between South and Central Asia and the Caspian region through container transportation.
The Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan corridor is part of broader regional efforts to enhance connectivity between South and Central Asia.
