ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to learn from the United Arab Emirates’ modern management system, which has propelled the country to developed status. During a meeting with UAE’s Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, Abdulla Nasser Lootah, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s own initiatives, such as digitization, paperless economy, and a faceless customs system, aimed at improving administrative structure.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of effective governance and data-driven decision-making, seeking to benefit from the UAE’s experiences to enhance Pakistan’s own efforts. The Prime Minister recalled his fruitful meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his previous visit to Abu Dhabi, noting the UAE’s significant role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries, aimed at improving government performance through knowledge exchange, mutual experience, and cooperation in areas such as good governance, development planning, public sector reforms, and science and technology.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi. This collaboration is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s governance and development frameworks, leveraging the UAE’s expertise and experience.
