WNAM REPORT: Karakalpakstan hosted a festival devoted to the equality and cohesion of representatives of all nations and nationalities living in Uzbekistan, as well as their contribution to the development of the New Uzbekistan.
The event, held on the territory of the Akchakul tourist complex, brought together heads of enterprises, organizations, institutions, educational institutions, activists of national cultural centers operating in the Aral Sea Region, youth, the general public, and media workers.
At the beginning of the festival, participants enjoyed exhibitions featuring national costumes, books from national cultural centers, as well as new products produced by industrial enterprises, clusters, and farms in the district.
Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan A. Orynbayev, and Chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad K. Sariev congratulated the participants on the holiday and spoke about the large-scale measures being implemented under the leadership of the Head of State to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between peoples.
It was noted that on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, July 30 is widely celebrated in the country as People’s Friendship Day. This date plays an essential role in public life and reflects the central values of modern Uzbekistan – peace, mutual respect, good neighborliness, and interethnic harmony.
Today, representatives of more than 130 nations and nationalities live in Uzbekistan, which has centuries-old traditions of intercultural dialogue. Each of them makes a worthy contribution to the development of the country, including the economy, science, culture, and social sphere.
A concert program took place following the festival. Events devoted to the People’s Friendship Day are continuing in the Aral Sea region.
