Islamabad deserves hosannas on giving a befitting reply to the letter of UN against ejection of Afghan refugees from Pakistan. It has let it be known to the UN that it alone can decide who are going to stay on its soil and who needs to be bundled out. Pakistan hasn’t done any thing which is new. It has done what almost all European countries have been doing with illegal immigrants.
There is no gainsaying the fact that Afghanistan is the epicenter of many terrorists organisations. It also goes without a saying that millions of Afghanis have been living on Pakistan’s soil without any documentation. Many of them have reached up to Europe and US on forged Pakistani Passports.
There is a need to give stern punishment to all those Pakistani officials who have been instrumental in getting Pakistani identity cards as well as passports issued to Afghan nationals as well as those political hands on whose recommendations they were issued.
Unless they are dismissed from government service and punished, corruption cannot be eliminated from our government offices.
