WNAM MONITORING: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

At the beginning of the meeting, the FIFA President once again warmly congratulated the leader and people of Uzbekistan on a historic achievement – the national team’s qualification for the final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States. It was emphasized that this well-deserved success is the practical result of effective reforms, attention, and comprehensive support for the development of sports in the country.

The discussions focused on expanding Uzbekistan’s productive partnership with this prestigious international organization, particularly in the areas of transforming the system of football organization and management, supporting the development of young talent, and providing international-level training for coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors, and technical specialists.

It was noted with great satisfaction that close cooperation continues in the implementation of joint programs to promote football, especially among young people.

With FIFA’s technical support, a modern National Football Center has been established, including a digital football situation center with the introduction of innovative solutions.

Last year, the Futsal World Cup was successfully held in Uzbekistan.

Special attention was given to the organization of major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached to open a FIFA regional office for Central Asian countries in Tashkent. Following the meeting, in recognition of his personal contribution to the development and promotion of Uzbek football on the international stage, the President of Uzbekistan presented FIFA President Gianni Infantino with a high state award – the “Dustlik” (Friendship) Order.
