This is what many people with irrational thinking would say regarding the expelling Iranian Ambassador and calling back Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran. The Iranian missle attack on Pakistan is undoubtedly unacceptable as it is a provocation and against the sovereignty of Pakistan, but the people with vision and wisdom would ask if expulsion of Iranian ambassador to Pakistan was a wise decision. The hasty decision in emotion can lead to disaster and irreversible damage.
Did we find out about the motive, goal, and objective that Iran wants to achieve with this action? Who is the beneficiary, who is the real target, and who will be ultimately the loser? Why did Iran choose this critical time to launch a missle when we have current burning issues with Afghanistan, India, and when elections are planned on 8th February?
Our internal and external enemies can take advantage of this situation. Our action can spark the secratranian clashes that were stopped after a lot of effort and sacrifices. Did we consider the impact we may have on our already fragile economy? Do we have the ability and capacity to control 3 fronts and prevent further escalation?
The matters will be out of our control sooner than later if we continue to handle the situation under emotional influence. Retreating sometimes from a battlefield for strategic reasons doesn’t mean that we are weak. We already have 2 hostile neighbours, and now there will be another one. We are aware that Iran has issues with Gwadar port, but hopes for betterment were there since China has started investing in Iran. These hopes will diminish if restraining is not adopted by both sides. Instability in Pakistan and Iran will only harm the national interest of both countries. Besides, it will support the plan of containing China in this region.
We will see the exceptionally increased insurgency and terrorism in Balochistan and KPK besides other parts of Pakistan as hostile countries and sleeper cells will take advantage of the situation.
We should find out if there is any link to the meeting that was held a few days ago between Pakistan and Iran to jointly counter the terrorism from Afghanistan or if there are some other hidden agenda?
I have already predicted a few months back that we will see unexpected events that will take place in 2024, which will further lead to instability therefore restraining and sanity shall prevail to make the correct decision in the national interest of Pakistan as dialogue instead of war is the only solution. We should not allow our enemies to trap us and not allow them to implement the 3D plan(Destablize, Decentralise, Denuclearize).  (The writer is a Senior Security Analyst, Stretigist, Threat and Risk Management, Expert and a Pilot).
