President of Uzbekistan highlights the expansion of partnership with Franklin Templeton company

WNAM REPORT: In the framework of the business program in New York City, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the president and CEO of Franklin Templeton company Jenny Johnson.

Issues of further expansion of strategic partnership with the company in order to fundamentally develop the corporate governance system in our country were reviewed.

Franklin Templeton is one of the largest global companies on asset management and provision of investment services. It has over 100 offices in 30 countries of the world. The company’s market capitalization exceeds $12 billion. It manages assets worth over $1,6 trillion.

A joint investment fund was created with Franklin Templeton, work is underway on transforming strategic state companies and placing their shares on global stock markets.

An agreement was reached on expert assistance on developing the potential of Tashkent stock exchange, including strengthening the independence and transparency of the regulator, creation of mechanisms for protection of the rights of investors in stock markets, attraction of major international custodians and implementation of digital platforms.

Interest was expressed in implementing programs on increasing effectiveness and listing of large state-owned enterprises on the IPO.

Additionally the expertise of the company will be attracted for the transformation of state enterprises with a focus on enhancing personnel potential, implementing “green” economy standards and increasing effectiveness.

The importance was emphasized on a thorough preparation of Investors’ day in October this year in the city of Tashkent.
