 Nostalgic Folk Chaupal-Celebrating Radio Pakistan’s Golden Era

Khanpur ( WNAM REPORT ):  A captivating folk gathering, “The Golden Days of Radio Pakistan,” was recently organized in Khanpur, bringing together prominent personalities, intellectuals, and media representatives to reminisce about the illustrious history of Radio Pakistan. Celebrated broadcaster Muhammad Fayyaz Kayani, who attended the gathering as Chief Guest, regaled the audience with tales of Radio Pakistan’s magnificent era, highlighting its pivotal role in promoting national unity, culture, literature, and music.

Kayani fondly recalled several iconic radio programs that continue to evoke nostalgia in senior citizens, including “Pothohari Diary,” “Jamhur Ni Waz,” “Rawal Rawail,” and “Pothohar Rang.” He paid tribute to legendary broadcasters and comperes like Syed Akhtar Jafri (Raja Sahib), Arshad Mahmood, Afzal Parvez, and Tariq Malik, as well as literary figures and poets such as Baqi Siddiqui, who made lasting contributions to Pothohari literature and culture.

The event emphasized the importance of preserving and transmitting Radio Pakistan’s cultural and literary legacy to the younger generation. Participants stressed the need for regular literary and cultural gatherings to promote and celebrate Pakistan’s rich heritage. The initiative was widely appreciated, with attendees calling for more such events to be organized in the future.”
