ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid and Secretary BISP Amer Ali Ahmad welcomed the World Bank mission led by Cristobal Ridao-Cano, Practice Manager Social Policy, MENAP Region, at BISP Headquarters on Monday. The delegation included Amjad Zafar Khan, Gul Najam Jamy, Javier Sanchez-Reaza, Ms. Amna Khan, Sohail Saeed, and Ms. Sarah Nizami. The mission is visiting Pakistan to review the current social policy portfolio, assess progress at federal and provincial levels, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
During the meeting, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid underscored the importance of strengthening the uniformity and centralization of the BISP NSER database to ensure transparency and authenticity in social protection delivery. She emphasized that all stakeholders at federal and provincial levels must align with this national priority.
Secretary BISP Amer Ali Ahmad briefed the delegation on the extensive use of BISP’s data by various government and non-government institutions across the country. He highlighted recent achievements under BISP’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programs, particularly in the areas of nutrition and education.
Mr. Cristobal Ridao-Cano appreciated BISP’s progress and the positive impact of its initiatives on the lives of underprivileged communities. He reaffirmed the World Bank’s continued support and expressed interest in further deepening collaboration with BISP.
The meeting also focused on enhancing secure data-sharing protocols, preventing duplication across CCT programs, strengthening targeting mechanisms, and increasing provincial engagement with BISP systems. Additional Secretary BISP Dr. Asmat Nawaz and Director Generals of BISP attended the meeting.
Later, the World Bank mission visited the BISP One-Window Center to interact with beneficiaries and review service delivery by implementing partners.
