WNAM Monitoring: Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev met with First Deputy Minister of Communications, Railways, and Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Syed Mazhar Ali Shah in Islamabad. The sides discussed the issues of cooperation in railway sector and in road and maritime communication.
The sides also discussed the issues of holding a meeting of the Kazakh-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission, an expert meeting and organization of a visit of Kazakhstani delegation to Pakistan in the first half of 2024.
Lastayev confirmed Kazakhstan’s intention to cooperate with Pakistan and noted that both countries need to build an effective transport and logistics system to boost the bilateral partnership.
We see high potential in using the transit corridors. Kazakhstan is interested in implementation of the project on construction of ML-4 Gwadar-Quetta and Kohat-Tal-Harlachi railroad lines to expand and simplify trade, he said.
There is a possibility of organization of a multimodal communication via the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route with the consideration of transportation of goods by railroad and road transport. The implementation of these projects will enable to fully use the existing corridors, he added.
Talgat Lastayev also told the Pakistani side about prospects of cooperation in maritime sector and proposed to jointly develop North-South and TITR corridors.
We propose to consider the organization of container transportations and export of goods from Kazakhstan to China through the Aktau Port and further to Pakistan through the Gulf of Oman, he said.
