Andalusian literature an enduring symbol of cultural, artistic connection between Arab-Western world: Speakers

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ):  The Fourth Annual Arabic Conference concluded at Allama Iqbal Open University with distinguished professors, researchers, and literary scholars participating from various Arab countries, including Jordan, Algeria, Oman, Iraq, Morocco and Egypt.
National and international speakers at the closing ceremony emphasized that Andalusian literature is an enduring symbol of the cultural and artistic connection between the Arab world and the West. They noted that for centuries it has enriched linguistic, intellectual, and literary domains with its deep and lasting influence.
They added that the two-day international conference held at Allama Iqbal Open University, titled “Andalusian Literature: Cultural and Artistic Relations and Influences Between the Arab World and the West,” provided an opportunity to understand this invaluable heritage from new perspectives.
Prof. Dr. Qadam I’ish Mehrath from the College of Islamic Literature, University of Education, Iraq, was the chief guest at the closing session, which was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohiuddin Hashmi.
Speakers stated that the Andalusian heritage is not only a shining example of Islamic civilization but also a remarkable model of intellectual harmony and cultural dialogue in world literature.
During the two-day conference, 92 research papers were presented across various academic sessions, shedding detailed light on the historical background of Andalusian literature, its artistic styles, linguistic dimensions, and its role in fostering cultural interaction between the Arab world and the West.
Participants also emphasized that such international academic engagements further strengthen Pakistan’s scholarly and research collaboration with the Arab world.
In his address, Chairman of the Department of Arabic, Dr. Abdul Majeed Baghdadi, said that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Allama Iqbal Open University has become a hub of research, educational, and cultural activities. Seminars, conferences, and intellectual events are being organized consistently, and this conference was another link in that chain.
