Indonesia-Pakistan Cultural Ties Strengthened with Inauguration of Indonesian Book Corner

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi inaugurated the Indonesian Book Corner at the National Library of Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan-Indonesia cultural cooperation. The event included the signing of an MoU between the National Library of Pakistan and the National Library of Indonesia.

The minister highlighted the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, emphasizing shared values and cooperation in culture, education, and international forums. “The Indonesian Corner will serve as a bridge between our nations, offering access to Indonesia’s literature, heritage, and intellectual traditions,” Khichi said.

The MoU will enhance collaboration through book exchanges, cultural activities, training, and research cooperation. Indonesian Ambassador Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo said, “The Indonesian Corner will help deepen mutual understanding among the people of our two brotherly countries.” The corner contains books and reference materials covering Indonesia’s politics, economy, security, culture, tourism, foreign policy, culinary traditions, and national development.

Ambassador Sukotjo added, “The MoU signed between the two national libraries marks a new beginning in institutional cooperation. I am excited to see the tangible outcomes of such collaborations.” He expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to strengthen, driven by shared cultural and historical heritage.

The event was attended by ASEAN ambassadors, high commissioners, and dignitaries, including the Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad and Ambassador of Thailand, Rongvudi Virabutr, and Prime Secretary of the National Library of Indonesia, Joko Santoso.
