ISLAMABAD: ( WNAM REPORT): Chairman Pakistan Alternative Energy association Asif Javaid, has stated that NEPRA has kept the net metering online portal closed for the past three months, causing severe losses to the solar business sector. He said that NEPRA is asking consumers to get their DG (Distributed Generation) capacity load regularized, which cannot be processed unless the online portal is reopened.

He further said that several aspects of the new policy are alarming. According to the new policy, even existing consumers who regularize their DG capacity load will be shifted from net metering to net billing, which is a matter of serious concern for consumers and stakeholders alike.

He added that they will continue to cooperate with the government in every positive step aimed at sustainable development and the promotion of alternative energy sources in the country. However, it is essential to take stakeholders into confidence during the policy-making process.
