Though on paper our politicians claim to be votaries of parliamentary democracy. Heads of almost all political parties barring, perhaps, JI have wangled the appointment of their next of kin on key political positions inside their party’s hiearchy in order to ensure that they become party chiefs once their number was up. This is akin to the system prevalent in monarchies where the king during his life time names his heir.
Every political party has in its ranks capable enough persons to run the show and deliver the goods, should they be given a chance by their party chief to take over the command of their parties. Unfortunately the party heads groom those as their successors who are their blue eyed boys and who dance to their tunes.

The month of Moharram is now round the corner. Experience of hindsight reveals that enemies of this country every year make an attempt to stir up sectarian trouble through their agents in this country. Some districts of the country like Kurram, DIK, Mansehra and Jhang to mention a few very sensitive sectarian areas requiring a close watch of the intelligence agencies on the speeches delivered by religious chieftains. If the district
magistrates establish a personal rapport with the religious big wigs of the areas, they administer and keep close contact with them on daily basis during Moharram, particularly chances of sectarian trouble can be reduced to a great extent. A close watch on the contents of speeches delivered by the religious bigwigs of both shia and sunni factions and prompt legal action against those making provocative speeches can also nip the evil of sectarian clashes in the bud.
