The grown and fastly growing population of this country will gobble up all the available resources of the country in no time if urgent brakes weren’t applied to it. Granted that the powers that be have been spending a lot of money on the developmental schemes aimed at the amelioration of the lot of the havenots of the country but if the population of the country also increased side by side by leaps and bounds all these efforts would go down the drain as for feeding more mouths every year we will require more money in every new year s budget.
Ayub Khan had long back realised the gravity of the situation and launched a program rained at controlling the birth rate in the country back in 1960s. But due to strong opposition of the religious chieftains to that family planning, had it not been rolled back the issue would have been resolved by now.
The powers that be had better first take the religious bigwigs of all the religio political parties of the country now into confidence about the seriousness of this issue and
then launch an aggressive family planning program, the earlier the better .
