WNAM REPORT: The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) is strengthening its partnership with Qatar to enhance humanitarian and community empowerment programs, while exploring solutions to challenges facing the global Islamic economy.

The initiative was highlighted during a meeting between Baznas Chair Sodik Mudjahid and Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari at the Qatari Embassy in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 5.

“Cross-border collaboration is key to addressing various humanitarian issues, including poverty alleviation and global crises,” Mudjahid said in a statement on Wednesday.

He also outlined several community empowerment programs implemented by Baznas, supported by zakat, infak, and sedekah funds.

According to him, these efforts reaffirm the agency’s commitment to operating as a professional, transparent, and impactful national zakat management institution.

Ambassador Al-Dosari welcomed Baznas’ efforts to expand global partnerships aimed at improving the quality of humanitarian programs and community empowerment initiatives.

During the meeting, both sides discussed several areas of strategic cooperation, including strengthening cross-border zakat management, supporting global humanitarian programs, and exploring collaborative opportunities to distribute aid, particularly in regions affected by conflict and disasters.

As an outcome of the meeting, Baznas and the Qatari government agreed to further strengthen institutional ties and communication as a foundation for building a long-term partnership, particularly in community empowerment and reinforcing global Muslim solidarity.

The partnership is expected to enhance cooperation between Baznas and the Qatari government, while delivering tangible contributions to social welfare and reinforcing the role of zakat as a tool for community development at the international level.
