FPCCI, ICCI to Jointly Shape ‘Shadow Budget’, Reflecting Business Community’s Priorities: Atif Ikram Sheikh

WNAM REPORT: President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, has announced that the Federation, in close collaboration with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will finalize a comprehensive set of budget proposals to be presented as a “shadow budget” for the upcoming fiscal year.
He shared these views during his visit to ICCI on Tuesday, where he was accompanied by Vice President Tariq Khan Jadoon, Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail Hussain and other senior members. Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, and executive members.
Atif Ikram Sheikh stated that FPCCI has received a wide range of budget proposals from chambers across the country. He emphasized that through coordinated efforts with ICCI, these recommendations will be refined into a unified shadow budget and presented to policymakers and relevant stakeholders, while also being shared with the media to ensure that the business community’s voice is effectively reflected in the national budget-making process.
He reiterated that the initiative aims to advocate for ease of doing business, policy stability, and economic facilitation, stressing that these measures are vital for sustainable growth and national economic development.
The FPCCI President also paid rich tribute to Sardar Tahir Mehmood, acknowledging his dynamic leadership and dedicated services, which he said have significantly elevated the stature and effectiveness of ICCI.
In his remarks, Sardar Tahir Mehmood highlighted key milestones achieved by ICCI, reaffirming the Chamber’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment. He stated that his team remains fully focused on addressing challenges faced by the business community and ensuring practical solutions for improved economic activity.
On the occasion, the FPCCI delegation also offered Fateha for the departed soul of the mother of Vice President Irfan Chaudhry and prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved family.
Expressing his gratitude, Irfan Chaudhry thanked the visiting delegation, stating that their presence and support had provided him with strength during this difficult time.
The meeting was attended by prominent ICCI members, including Executive Members Waseem Chaudhry, Mohammad Ali Mirza, Zulqurnain Abbasi, Ishaq Sial, Malik Mohsin Khalid, Rohail Anwar Butt former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, senior member Israr ul-Haq Mishwani and others.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment by both FPCCI and ICCI leadership to work jointly for policy advocacy and to ensure that the concerns of Pakistan’s business community are effectively translated into actionable economic reforms.
