ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): A two-week Turkish Summer Camp has been inaugurated at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) through a joint collaboration between the university’s International Collaboration and Exchange Office and the Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan. The camp will continue until June 26 and aims to introduce children to Turkish language, culture, calligraphy, archery and a range of educational and creative activities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Turkish Embassy Educational Attache Dr. Mehmet Toyran, Country Directory, Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan Eren Miyasoğlu, Director of AIOU’s International Collaboration and Exchange Office Dr. Zahid Majid, teachers, parents and a large number of children.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Mehmet Toyran said that such educational and cultural initiatives play a significant role in strengthening people-to-people relations between Pakistan and Turkey. He added that these programs provide young participants with an opportunity to understand different cultures and promote mutual respect.
Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan Country Director Eren Miyasoglu said that this year the summer camp is being organized not only in Islamabad but also in other cities. He informed that in Karachi, the camp will be held from June 22 to July 3, while in Lahore it will run from June 29 to July 10 allowing more students to benefit from the initiative.
Dr. Zahid Majid said that the summer camp offers children exposure to Turkish language and culture along with fine arts and healthy extracurricular activities. He said these experiences contribute to personality development, creativity and confidence-building among young learners.
He further stated that such joint programs are important for strengthening the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey at educational and cultural levels.
Dr. Zahid Majid also appreciated the three-year leadership of former Director of Yunus Emre Institute, Prof. Dr. Khalil Tokar acknowledging his contributions toward strengthening cultural and academic ties between both countries.
He added that 33 children are currently participating in the camp, which marks the fourth summer camp organized by AIOU. He also said that the visionary leadership and strong support of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood have played a key role in the success of the program.
The Turkish Summer Camp is part of AIOU’s ongoing initiatives under the vision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasser Mahmood aimed at promoting the intellectual and mental development of the younger generation and encouraging positive extracurricular engagement.
