ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): : President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has warmly welcomed the signing of the historic “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)”, facilitated by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, which formalized a major diplomatic breakthrough between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Describing the development as a landmark diplomatic achievement, he said the successful conclusion of the Islamabad MoU reflects Pakistan’s growing stature as a responsible, credible, and influential voice for peace, dialogue, and stability in regional and global affairs. He noted that Pakistan’s role as a mediator in bringing the two countries closer demonstrates the confidence reposed by the international community in Pakistan’s diplomatic capabilities and leadership.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood paid rich tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and coordinated efforts that helped position Pakistan at the forefront of international peace building and constructive engagement.
He remarked that the easing of regional tensions and the continued uninterrupted movement of trade through the Strait of Hormuz are highly encouraging developments for global commerce, energy security, and economic stability. He emphasized that the reduction in geopolitical risks is expected to ease pressure on international oil markets and contribute to greater confidence among investors and businesses worldwide.
The ICCI President urged the Government to pass on the benefits of lower international oil prices to the people by reducing petroleum prices to the levels prevailing before the US-Iran conflict. He observed that lower fuel prices would provide substantial relief to consumers, reduce transportation and production costs, help contain inflation, and support economic growth by improving the competitiveness of businesses and industries.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood further stated that peace and stability remain essential prerequisites for sustainable economic development. He expressed confidence that the Islamabad MoU would open a new chapter of regional cooperation, strengthen economic and trade relations, promote investment flows, and create fresh opportunities for prosperity across the region.
He concluded by stating that Pakistan’s successful diplomatic initiative has enhanced the country’s international prestige and reinforced its image as a sincere advocate of peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding. He expressed hope that the Islamabad MoU would serve as a foundation for lasting regional stability, greater trust among nations, and a more prosperous future for the people of the region.
