Turkish Summer Camp and other educational and cultural programmes would be expanded to AIOU’s regional campuses across Pakistan: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD  ( WNAM REPORT ): Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. İrfan Neziroğlu on Wednesday described Pakistan–Türkiye relations as a strong brotherly bond founded on shared history, culture, religious harmony and mutual trust, saying the two countries continue to deepen cooperation in education, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The ambassador was addressing the closing ceremony and certificate distribution of a two-week ‘Turkish Summer Camp’ jointly organized by the Department of International Collaboration and Exchange at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and the Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan.
Dr. Neziroğlu said Pakistani students have access to numerous higher education opportunities and scholarship programmes in Türkiye. He emphasized that learning the Turkish language and gaining a deeper understanding of Türkiye’s literature, culture and society are essential for students wishing to benefit fully from these educational opportunities.
He said the Yunus Emre Institute at AIOU regularly organizes Turkish language courses, academic programmes and cultural activities to familiarize Pakistani students with Türkiye’s language, traditions and cultural heritage.
The ambassador announced that the Turkish Summer Camp and other educational and cultural programmes would be expanded to AIOU’s regional campuses across Pakistan, enabling students from all four provinces to participate and benefit from these initiatives.
Commending the university’s efforts, Dr. Neziroğlu thanked AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood for promoting educational and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye and creating new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood congratulated the participants for successfully completing the summer camp and encouraged them to continue learning the Turkish language to enhance their academic and professional prospects.
He urged the students to become ambassadors of friendship, goodwill and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye, saying the younger generation would play a vital role in further strengthening the long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries.
Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said educational and cultural exchange programmes provide young people with valuable international exposure while opening new opportunities for academic and professional growth. Appreciating the enthusiasm of the participants, he led the audience in chants of “Long Live Pakistan–Türkiye Brotherhood,” highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
Director of International Collaboration and Exchange Dr. Zahid Majeed said that 30 students successfully completed training in the Turkish language and culture during the two-week summer camp. He also paid tribute to former Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan Director Prof. Dr. Khalil Touqar for his valuable contributions to strengthening educational and cultural relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participating students.
