WNAM MONITORING: Adil Karimli, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, attended a scientific-practical conference held on the sidelines of the 3rd International Maqom Art Forum, themed “New Trends of Eastern Maqom: The Interaction of Tradition and Innovation,” in Namangan, Uzbekistan.
Addressing the event, Adil Karimli described Azerbaijani mugham as an integral part of the national and cultural identity of the Azerbaijani people.
He also highlighted the attention and care President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attaches to the development of all areas of the cultural sector, including mugham.
The minister noted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, makes a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of the art of mugham both nationally and internationally.
