WNAM REPORT: A meeting was held at the Executive Committee of the Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan with a delegation from the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, led by its First Deputy Chairman, Maliksho Nematzoda.
During the dialogue, it was emphasized that the centuries-old friendship, historical proximity, and shared cultural and spiritual values between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan closely bind the two peoples. Notably, in recent years, thanks to the political will, mutual trust, and open dialogue of the leaders of the two states—President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon—relations between our countries have been elevated to a new, strategically significant level.
The signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations in 2024 and the agreements reached by the heads of state in March of this year to further deepen the strategic partnership and allied relations have further intensified mutual ties. During the dialogue, inter-party cooperation was recognized as one of the important and practical aspects of this rapprochement.
At the end of the discussions, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between UzLiDeP and the PDPT. As was noted, this document is significant for its aim to systematically establish relations between the two parties and to provide them with concrete, practical substance.
Within the framework of the memorandum, priority will be given to areas such as establishing a constant dialogue between the parties, exchanging experience in lawmaking and party activities, and developing cooperation between deputies and local representative bodies. It also envisages the implementation of joint initiatives to support entrepreneurship and the private sector, promote innovation, and strengthen ties among youth and women.
Furthermore, the parties agreed to create joint working groups, hold forums, meetings, and consultations, exchange best practices, and develop specific programs and projects.
