WNAM REPORT: First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodiq Safoyev met with Song Seok-jun, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
The parties discussed further strengthening interparliamentary ties and advancing their strategic partnership.
It was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Korea continue to develop steadily, grounded in mutual trust, respect, and a long-term strategic partnership. Particular attention is being paid to regular political dialogue and active cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The parties highlighted the need to strengthen connections between relevant committees and interparliamentary cooperation groups, and to increase the exchange of legislative expertise in emerging and promising fields.
At the meeting, particular attention was paid to the regional dimension of cooperation. The parties expressed interest in expanding direct ties between the regions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, developing smart cities, and digitalizing local governance, infrastructure, and small and medium-sized businesses.
