WNAM REPORT: Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Jeon Seung-rok, Senior Vice President at Korea’s KT, to discuss expanding technological cooperation.
The talks focused primarily on building the computing capacity needed for artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan. In particular, the parties considered establishing AI-focused data centers in the country with KT’s participation.
The discussion also covered new opportunities for Uzbekistan’s startups, especially their involvement in the KT K-PATH corporate acceleration program. This program could connect them with Korea’s tech ecosystem and help them enter international markets.
The parties also explored establishing a KT division in Uzbekistan dedicated to digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Additionally, they considered offering technology services to Korean clients from Uzbekistan. The agenda further covered attracting KT’s partner IT companies to establish a presence in Uzbekistan and opening local offices for these partners.
The parties discussed opportunities to conduct joint research and development in artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan, including the joint development of new technologies.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue developing the proposed initiatives and to identify practical cooperation mechanisms for each area. Additionally, the parties signed two memoranda of understanding to foster cooperation with East Telecom and carry out joint technology projects.
