WNAM REPORT: Senator Kudratilla Rafikov, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, met with Wang Dongming, Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, in Beijing on September 23.
At the meeting, Wang Dongming spoke about China’s current economic development and the work underway in the country to implement its new 15th Five-Year Plan. He expressed readiness to expand direct dialogue with Uzbekistan’s trade unions, strengthen practical cooperation, and promote exchanges between representatives of labor collectives and trade unions.
In his remarks, Kudratilla Rafikov emphasized that the political will of the leaders of the two countries has been decisive in bringing relations between Uzbekistan and China to their current high level.
The Federation Chairman said the Uzbek side had presented five proposals to its Chinese counterparts to develop cooperation. “We are pleased that work on two of them has already begun”, he said.
Future cooperation is expected to prioritize areas such as experience exchange, the study of modern approaches to trade union activities, and the expansion of humanitarian ties. The Uzbek side expressed interest in studying the practical experience of Chinese trade unions and in adapting effective mechanisms to national practices.
During the visit, the Uzbekistan delegation toured the Xi’an Model Worker Spirit Exhibition Hall, a machinery manufacturing plant, and the China – Europe freight train assembly center.
During the talks, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions also expressed interest in developing cooperation with trade unions in Central Asian countries. This approach could create new opportunities for exchanging experience in labor relations, social protection, and trade union activities across the region.
