Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman was elected as the new Amir Jamaat Islami the other day by over 40000 party voters. Neither the outgoing JI chief Maulvi Siraj Ul Haque nor veteran JI stalwart Liaqat Baloch could make it to the post of Amir Jamaat Islami in the said election.
It certainly goes to the credit of this political party that it has evolved such a fool proof exhaustive and just intra party election system that even an ordinary member gets an opportunity to become its head if he proves himself to be honest ,dedicated and intelligent.
There is no scope for the offspring or next of kin of the head of the JI to get himself appointed on key administrative position inside the party. Had it been so members belonging to its lower echelon like Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Maulvi Siraj Ul Haque, Dr Munawar Hasan and now Naeem ur Rehman could never have made it to the top. The other political parties of the country had also better develop their intra party election system on the pattern of the one operative in the JI if they really want to end dynastic politics inside their parties under which ordinary party member has no chance, whatever,to get to the top.
