WNAM MONITORING: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan led by the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Tashkent Investment Forum.
Minister Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed to the Leader of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings and good wishes of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Issues of further developing and deepening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan and enhancing practical cooperation in the context of implementing previously reached agreements were considered.
Mutual trade turnover grew by 27 percent last year and by another 15 percent since the beginning of the year.
Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive industry, energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, textiles, tourism, and other sectors.
The importance of further increasing the portfolio of projects, including by attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company, was emphasized.
To prepare the economic agenda for the upcoming summit meetings, a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of Regions of the two countries will be held soon.
Views were also exchanged on issues of regional cooperation. The main results of trilateral meeting of the ministers of economy and energy of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan were highly appreciated.
