The Nakba has been going on for 76 years, while the new Nakba is ongoing ethnic cleansing, continued genocide, population displacement, and forced illegal confiscation of Palestinian land.
On May 15 of every year, our Palestinian people around the world commemorate Nakba Day in memory of the almost destruction of their existence in their homeland, Palestine.
The establishment of Israel on the land of Palestine in 1948 constitutes a serious historical injustice to the Palestinian people that continues to this day. The ongoing Nakba that the Palestinian people have been enduring for Seventy-six years, so far, since the Nakba of 1948, the year that witnessed the displacement of the Palestinian people.
Yesterday’s catastrophe is today’s reality
Genocide is a new catastrophe carried out by the Israeli occupation, and the Palestinians are deprived of all basic human rights as Israel continues to adopt policies of killing, starvation, destruction, forced displacement, oppression and humiliation to accomplish the colonial goals of occupying all of Palestine and displacing our people. The ongoing evil colonial attempts to erase Palestinian identity, ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people and insulting their dignity at the hands of Israel are not just one dark chapter in history, but daily life under the humiliation, oppression, and occupation targeting every Palestinian individual. It is time for this dark chapter to end and a new, promising chapter to begin. It’s time for justice in Palestine.
Since 1948, Israel has used deliberate and systematic acts of violence, colonization, and destruction to the detriment of the Palestinian people, their rights, land, and resources. Extremist Zionism is determined to pursue these evil policies to impose-create “Greater Israel” on the historic land of Palestine. More than seven million Palestinian refugees reside in the occupied Palestinian territories and in exile. Palestinian refugees have suffered for too long, and it is time for their plight to be recognized by the international community and resolved in accordance with international law and conventions, including UN General Assembly Resolutions 181 (1947), 194 (1948) and 273 (1949), the 1951 Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).
Today, we face the risk of another Nakba and its consequences that will completely destroy Palestine, if Israel is allowed to continue its illegal colonial policies against the Palestinian people, as the Israeli occupation continues to perpetrate the most heinous crimes, genocide and displacement against the Palestinian people, which have escalated at a more severe rate during the current aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
