WNAM MONITORING: Tashkent hosted the first round of consultations between the office of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Service of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Mahmudov and Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov.
A wide range of issues related to combating international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and other forms of transnational organized crime were discussed. Views were also exchanged on military and military-technical cooperation.
The parties noted the importance of joint work among the competent departments in finding ways to overcome modern security challenges and ensure stable development, as well as intensifying contacts between law enforcement agencies, special services, and defense departments in bilateral and international formats.
Several initiatives and recommendations were made to enhance the security partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, including strengthening the legal framework and interagency cooperation.
Following the event, a protocol was signed.
