HÀ NỘI – Foreign leaders continued to extend their congratulations to Tô Lâm and Trần Thanh Mẫn on their election as the State President and Chairman of the National Assembly of Việt Nam, respectively.
President Tô Lâm received congratulatory messages and letters from leaders of Thailand, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Morocco, Finland, the Republic of Türkiye, Timor Leste, Uzbekistan and Slovenia and the ASEAN Secretary General.
In his message, Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn affirmed that the Việt Nam-Thailand strategic partnership has been growing fruitfully, both bilaterally and within the ASEAN framework. He expressed his belief that the two countries will maintain their close cooperation to step up the relationship, for the interest, development and prosperity of their people.
RoK President Yoon Suk Yeol wrote in his letter that the Việt Nam-RoK relationship is at its best since they established diplomatic ties in 1992, and noted his hope that the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership will be elevated to a new level in all spheres, especially politics, economy, national defence, development collaboration, culture and people-to-people exchange.
The other well-wishers included ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina; Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko; Belgian King Philippe; President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; President of Hungary Sulyok Tamas; King of Morocco Mohammed VI; President of Finland Alexander Stubb; President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev; President of Timor Leste José Ramos-Horta, and President of Slovenia Natasa Pirc Musar.
Leaders of Singapore and Australia also sent letters of congratulations to President Tô Lâm and NA Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn on this occasion.
President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Seah Kian Peng expressed their wish for close coordination between the two countries to advance the bilateral relationship to a new height. They also invited their Vietnamese counterparts to visit Singapore at an appropriate time.
Australian Governor-General David Hurley, President of the Senate Sue Lines and Speaker of the House of Representatives Milton Dick committed to continue cooperation with Việt Nam towards the common goals and maintain high-level visits and meetings to contribute to tightening the bilateral ties.
Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab also sent congratulatory letters to President Tô Lâm and NA Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn.
