ISLAMABAD: WNAM REPORT: The Department of Computer Science – Allama Iqbal Open University organized the “Open House 2024,” where final year BS (Computer Science) students showcased their projects addressing societal needs. A total of 77 students participated, presenting 27 projects. These included a gas leakage detection project, a rural emporium (e-commerce platform), a system for cleaning and protecting wheat from pests, a battery-powered modern wheat harvesting machine, a PC watch tower, and a 3D driving tutor, among others. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Professor Dr. Hajra Ahmed. On this occasion, Dr. Hajra inspected all the projects, and the students gave presentations and demonstrated their projects. Dr. Hajra stated that all these projects are useful and align with today’s societal needs She mentioned that the students’ projects demonstrated that they possess ample talent. Dr. Saleem Iqbal mentioned that under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, they organized this event to showcase the students’ projects with the primary aim of informing market and industry experts about the students’ capabilities, so they can receive job and internship opportunities. Dr. Moizuddin Ahmed stated that the university’s golden jubilee celebrations are ongoing, and this open house is a part of those ongoing celebrations.
