WNAM MONITORING: Russian flag carrier Aeroflot has requested slots to make flights to the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
“Aeroflot has requested required slots to make flights from Moscow to Denpasar, starting from September, and awaits the decision of Indonesian aviation authorities,” the airline was quoted as saying by TASS News Agency.
The news came as Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto visited Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on Wednesday where he pledged to strengthen the bilateral cooperation once he assumes presidency in October.
According to TASS, Prabowo welcomed the opening of the Russian consulate-general in Bali and “assumed that Aeroflot could make flights between the two countries.
Prabowo said he regards Russia as Indonesia’s old friend and vowed to further strengthen the bilateral ties.
“In our history, we remember that Russia always came to help in many aspects when we were facing difficult times,” Prabowo said.
Prior to his Moscow trip, Prabowo had also visited Belgrade to meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and was received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his subsequent trip to Ankara.
