Kabul: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Iceland has contributed forty million Icelandic Krona to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

This agency, on Thursday announced that Iceland has contributed approximately 40 million Krona to Afghanistan.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reaffirms that alongside its recent contribution, Iceland has been providing assistance to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, totaling 175 million Krona since 2020.

On the previous day, the European Union also declared its support by donating 25 million Euros to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to aid the people of Afghanistan.

These contributions come at a crucial time, with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees previously stating that 29.2 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance in the current year.

International efforts are actively addressing the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, with both OCHA and the European Union making substantial contributions to alleviate the situation.

The repatriation of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries, such as Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, along with the forceful deportations, is intensifying the already severe humanitarian crisis within Afghanistan.

Despite widespread international criticism and calls for restraint, Pakistani authorities have persisted in their plans to forcibly deport over one million Afghan undocumented migrants by January 2024.

The ongoing deportation efforts raise concerns about the well-being of Afghan refugees and add to the complex challenges faced by Afghanistan’s fragile humanitarian situation.
