WNAM MONITORING: The delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the International Tourism Exhibition “Silk Road in Xi’an-2024”, which will be held from August 9 to 11 in the Chinese city of Xi’an.
The Turkmen delegation is headed by the head of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, Akiniyaz Agamuradov.
It is symbolic that the city of Xi’an has been chosen as the venue for the forum. This major industrial, business, cultural, educational and tourist center of the PRC was in ancient times the starting point and destination of trade caravans that passed along the Great Silk Road through the territory of Central Asia, linking China and the states of the region.
The city of Xi’an is twinned with the Turkmen city of Mary, through which the route of this legendary caravan highway passed. The relevant Agreement on this was signed in May 2014.
