Islamabad (WNAM REPORT) – Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is set to host the 37th annual international conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) from October 15th to 17th, 2024. This significant event will bring together over 100 vice-chancellors, rectors, and professors from leading open universities across Asia, alongside approximately 250 national education experts and researchers.
Members of AAOU’s Executive Body and General Body will also participate in the conference, highlighting its importance in the field of open and distance learning (ODL).
The Vice-Chancellor of AIOU has appointed Dr. Zahid Majeed, Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Course Production, as the Conference Coordinator. Reflecting on the university’s legacy, Dr. Majeed noted that AIOU successfully hosted the first AAOU conference in 1988 and the second in 2013. In honor of the university’s Golden Jubilee, the Vice-Chancellor has entrusted Dr. Majeed with the responsibility of organizing this landmark international conference. Preparations are already well underway to ensure the event’s success.
Dr. Majeed further emphasized that the conference will provide a valuable platform for international and national researchers to present their papers, with opportunities for their work to be published in AIOU’s research journals. The event will also feature poster presentations, dynamic panel discussions, and key meetings of the AAOU Executive and General Bodies.
