WNAM MONITORING: The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a joint meeting with the two countries’ business circles.

The event was attended by the heads and representatives of leading Azerbaijani companies PASHA Holding, SOCAR, SOFAZ, Agalarov Development, Silk Way Group, Matanat, Sarda Group, AzerGold, Azermash, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, Azerbaijan Railways, Alat Free Economic Zone and others.

The President of Uzbekistan sincerely greeted the heads of the leading companies, especially noting their essential role in expanding our countries’ trade and economic partnership.

“You are the driving force of the economy, boldly introducing innovations, creating enterprises and jobs”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

It was noted that the event, held for the first time in this format, will mark the launch of a new stage in the trade and economic cooperation of the two countries.

The President of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction the breakthrough results of the current summit. A broad cooperation agenda was discussed, and promising growth points were identified. The first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council was held, and the Treaty on Allied Relations was signed.

“We have reached the highest level of interstate cooperation and have actually opened a new chapter in relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan”, the President of Uzbekistan noted.

It was emphasized that the main results of the negotiations were agreements on the formation of even more favorable conditions and comprehensive support for business in our countries, including joint access to foreign markets.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in this direction. Trade turnover and the number of joint ventures have increased several times, several cooperation projects have been successfully implemented, interregional exchanges have intensified, and a joint Investment Company is successfully operating.

In addition, during the business forum held the day before, a solid portfolio of agreements and contracts worth more than $2 billion was signed.

In his speech, the Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that business should become the main driver and play a decisive role in implementing key tasks within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation declared by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

We are talking about promising projects in 20 priority areas of cooperation.

“We are unanimous with the respected Ilham Heydarovich: the future of cooperation lies with business, and the future of multifaceted relations between the two countries depends on you”, summed up Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President of Uzbekistan assured entrepreneurs that all necessary conditions will be created for their practical and comfortable activities.

In turn, the heads of the leading companies of the two countries expressed gratitude to the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan for their support and informed them about specific plans for implementing new cooperation projects.

Following the meeting, the leaders took part in the ceremony of launching cooperation projects.

Among them are the construction of a hotel and residential complexes in Tashkent, the production of building materials in Kashkadarya region, the creation of textile clusters, a garment factory and other projects in Azerbaijan.

Having launched these projects, the Presidents expressed confidence that they would increase the volume of mutual trade turnover and create modern production facilities and new jobs.
