ISLAMABAD( WNAM REPORT): Allama Iqbal Open University has introduced new certificate and diploma programs to enhance the role of mosques and improve the effectiveness of imams and khateebs. These programs aim to address contemporary challenges and equip religious leaders with the necessary skills. The six-month Imam and Khateeb training courses and the Iftaa certificate course, as well as the one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Iftaa, are now open for enrollment. Eligibility includes a matriculation certificate with relevant certifications or degrees in Islamic Studies. Admissions are available online through the university’s website (www.aiou.edu.pk).
According to Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, strengthening the role of the pulpit and mihrab is crucial for community reform. Proper training of imams and khateebs is essential to effectively address modern religious issues. The university’s Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies has introduced these courses to ensure comprehensive training. Additionally, the university is offering certificate courses in various fields, including Al Lisan ul Arabi, Arabi Bol chal, Lughat ul Quran, ATTC, IFTA , Imam and Khateeb, Librarianship, Literacy, Special Education, and Islamic Finance.
