WNAM REPORT: The additional budget of Rp10 billion (or around US$649 hundred) for promoting Prabowo-Gibran’s Free Nutritious Meal program aims to educate the public about the importance of nutritious food consumption.
The Communication and Informatics Ministry’s (Kominfo’s) Director General of Public Information and Communication, Prabu Revolusi, conveyed this during a media gathering at the ministry’s press room here on Friday.
“I need to check the overall budget again, but the Rp10 billion is additional. It is quite large and shows the Kominfo’s seriousness to ensure that the nutritious lunch program can be accepted and understood well by the public,” he remarked.
He explained that the additional Rp10 billion will be utilized to increase the effectiveness of dissemination of information about the program both through social media and on-site means.
With 210 million social media users in Indonesia, Revolusi stated that the approaches are expected to reach the wider community.
Information extension workers in the regions will also help disseminate information about the program in order to ensure that knowledge about the program reaches all levels of society, including those living in the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
“There will still be on-site information dissemination because we also have to reach out to citizens who do not have (internet) access,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Free Nutritious Meal program, targeting school students at all levels, is a top priority program in the Prabowo-Gibran government.
Earlier, Kominfo had received an additional budget of Rp10 billion for the Fiscal Year 2025 to support the Free Nutritious Meal program.
With this addition, the ministry’s budget allocation ceiling in 2025 reaches Rp7.73 trillion, decreasing by 49.09 percent as compared to its 2024 Fiscal Year Ceiling.
