WNAM REPORT: In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, the French president said that Paris strongly condemns the aggression against Lebanon and has used all its efforts to exert pressure and stop this aggression.
The presidents of Iran and France held a meeting in New York on Wednesday.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron met and held talks on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly summit in New York.
During the meeting, Pezeshkian said that France can play a much more effective role in stopping the crimes of the Zionist regime.
“Today, the people of Iran and the region are severely affected by the crimes of the Zionist regime, and the continuation of these crimes can get the situation out of control,” he added.
Macron, for his part, said that France strongly condemns the aggression against Lebanon and has used all its efforts to exert pressure and stop this aggression.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Macron called for the release of the 3 French citizens who were held by Iran due to their participation in the 2022 riots.
This is the first time that Pezeshkian and Macron meet.
Details of their meeting would be released later.
The Iranian president has held several meetings with his counterparts from different states during his US visit so far.
