WNAM REPORT: Allama Iqbal Open University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, emphasized that following the teachings of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is the most revered way of expressing devotion. He remarked that to achieve success in both worlds, we must integrate the Prophet’s ﷺ life and exemplary conduct into our daily routines. He shared these thoughts while addressing the final round of a Naat recitation competition and awards ceremony. Allama Iqbal Open University organized separate Naat recitation competitions at the school, college, and university levels, involving 130 students from 56 institutions across Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The final round took place at the university’s main campus, presided over by Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood.
In the school-level competition, Muhammad Subhan secured first place, while Husnain Ali stood second. At the college level, Muhammad Ali Adil took first place, with Mubeen Irshad as runner-up. At the university level, Tarain Ali claimed first place, followed by Muhammad Sabgatullah in second. Judges for the event included Dr. Ahmed Raza from the Department of Islamic Thought, History and Culture, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Sajjad from the Department of Interfaith Studies, Dr. Muhammad Qasim from the Urdu Department, Dr. Syed Shiraz Ali Zaidi from Iqbal Studies, and Salma Khan from Pakistan Television.
The final round of the Naat competition, organized by the Directorate of Student Advisory and Counseling Services in collaboration with Islamabad and Rawalpindi regional offices, concluded with the Vice Chancellor congratulating Director Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali and DGRS Dr. Malik Tauqeer Ahmed Khan for their efforts. Dr. Malik highlighted the significance of gatherings that honor the Prophet ﷺ, stating that the light of the Prophet’s ﷺ grace illuminates the hearts of believers. The event concluded with cash prizes and certificates awarded to the winners, attended by university officials, students, and their parents.
