What the Soviets could not do through use of muscles, the Chinese have done it through excellent diplomacy.
Both of them wanted to reach the warm waters of Gwadar. While the former could not achieve the objective despite paying a heavy price in life and limb the latter achieved it through sheer diplomacy without firing a single bullet. With the commissioning of Gwadar’s sea port our economy will also turn round.
It was heartening to witness over the idiot box the inauguration ceremony of opening of new Gwadar airport the other day. Needless to say that the communist bloc became strong the day China and Russia came on the same page after sinking whatever differences they had and there was a thaw in their relationship.
