(WNAM Report): A two-member delegation of University of Gujrat (UOG), comprising of Director ORIC, Prof Dr Audil Rashid and Director BIC, Dr Nauman Riaz visited the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) to explore collaboration opportunities and understand the technical setup at the NUST Science & Technology Park (NSTP) and the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Sciences (SINES). The NSTP, led by GM Engr Adil Murtaza, features eight thematic areas focusing on computational technologies and innovation, currently hosting 40 startups.
These startups initially receive free space and technical facilities, transitioning to independent companies after six months. At SINES, Principal and Dean Prof Dr Hammad Cheema highlighted top projects and potential collaborative ventures, leveraging NUST’s financial profile. The strategic location of the UOG, near three chambers of commerce, presents unique industry engagement opportunities.
A collaboration model involving UOG and NUST was proposed to address regional industry challenges. Following the visit, a comprehensive proposal for the UOG Technology Park, focusing on faculty expertise and collaboration areas, will be developed and submitted to the NUST Pro-Rector Research for further discussion and refinement. This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering research-driven solutions and innovative collaborations in the region.
